About the archive
An archive of places and pages, kept by hand.
Webemalu is a working archive: a Local Directory of verified places and a Reference Library of downloadable material, edited to one standard and free to explore.
Editor's note
Kept by hand.
Nothing is auto-imported. Every directory listing is filed by an editor after the address, hours and contact details are checked against a live source.
Every reference document is opened, read past the first page, and added only if it survives the same source-checking a listing does.
The site is designed to be used, not scrolled — hairline dividers, generous type, no infinite feed. If it helped you find or download something, the archive did its job.
Standards
Four things we hold to.
Verified before filed
Every directory listing is checked against a live source. If we cannot confirm an address, phone number or hours, the entry does not go up.
Read before shelved
Reference documents are opened and read past the summary. Length is not a virtue — usefulness is.
One editorial voice
A place and a page get the same weight, the same typeface, the same margin. The archive reads as a single volume, not seven feeds.
Free to browse, easy to contribute
Anyone can submit an entry. Anyone can download a document. Reviewers read every submission — the door is open, the standard is real.
